Mrs. Murphy, to put it mildly, is short. Except to people under the age of perhaps eleven.
Due to this, driving has always been an adventure. She's met all sorts of interesting people - like police.
The driving lessons began at home. On a standard falcon wagon. With her mother screaming at her "Can't you HEAR that motor grinding?"
No. Mrs. Murphy is clueless when it comes to cars (although she was to learn more as time went by).
OK. So we'll get your father to teach you about driving a standard. When Mrs. Murphy goes out driving with her mother, they take dad's brand new chevy super sport. Turquoise. COOL!
Mrs. Murphy talks mom into going to the beach. And she finds out the police there have NO sense of humor. As she's driving sedately around the arcade area with mom in the front passenger seat beside her as is right and proper, they're spotted - or rather, Mrs. Murphy is spotted - by the local police.
Now, the cop that spotted her can't give chase, because he's on foot. So he calls in an APB on the car, child, yes CHILDdriving.
With an adult in the front seat?????
BE REAL But they did. And Mrs. Murphy finds out what it's like to be pulled over by the cops.
They let her go, of course. Their problem (and it turned out to be the problem of many cops) was that when behind the car Mrs. Murphy is driving at any given time, they usually can't see the top of her head over the head rest.
